TMD (Turned Mass Damper, Dynamic absorber)
The TMD is used when resonance occurs in a structure due to operation of mechanical facilities, vibration by walking of people, and by wind etc. If resonance occurs, since vibration of a structure drastically increases, it causes problems in usability and durability of a structure and even destruction of a structure. In these cases, the vibration can be reduced from minimum 25% up to 75% if the TMD is used. Fig 1 shows installation of TMD in case that a floor is vibrated, and Fig 2 shows the volume of reduction of vibration before and after measure. Fig3~4 show the compared results of the period of reduction of vibration before and after measure and the time for reduction is shortened by more than about 50% or so.
